NATIVE GOLD QUARTZ SPECIMEN from the MOTHER LODE. R uler is 1/4 wide (6 mm).

10 cent coin is 17 mm in diameter. S pecimen weight: 7.1 G ram - 110.5 G rains (Troy). S ize: 27.3X20.6X15.2 mm.

F or native gold purists, this is one of the more impressive specimens I have in stock. I only wish my camera could accurately capture the gold crystals spicing up this wild, iron-filled, iron-stained rock.

It's gorgeous now, but to observe the full splendor of what's occurred mineralogically, one needs to examine this rock beneath a high-power microscope. An irregular trail of precious metal crystals can be seen stuck to the black mineral cubes (possibly limonite) filling the vug which encircles this predominantly quartz rock. I guarantee these yellow crystals are gold.

You would not believe how many similar-appearing rocks I've examined in the field. Not one yielded gold visible under a pocket loupe let alone gold which could be seen by the naked eye. It's an incredible, one-of-a-kind specimen. Here at Gold of Eldorado, you don't have to guess about authenticity.

I placer-mined for eighteen years and guarantee naturally-occurring visible gold is present in all my specimens. If you've spent any time hunting for wild gold, you should appreciate just what that means. Have a field day studying this piece. You won't believe all the colors livening up this dynamic rock.

A s the operator/sole proprietor of Gold of Eldorado, I actively mined gold for 18 years. Beginning long ago, perhaps in a past life, something in the golden mystique of this rare, precious metal attracted me to it. Searching for Au (gold), working with oro in it's multitude of forms, and passing it on to other aficionados has become a life-way. This passion, combined with an independent and entrepreneurial spirit, fuels my desire to bring these exciting creations and new discoveries to your notice.

Here is one such discovery, an amazing marriage of gold, quartz, and a rainbow of residual colors left over mainly by iron minerals. This is a far different animal than you may be accustomed to seeing or collecting and priced fairly for such an exceptional Mother Lode specimen. The price is going up.

I poured through old mining dumps for years looking at orange-yellow-rusty rock through a loupe, but I never found a piece with visible gold. Hydrothermal solutions carrying gold and silica crystallized into veins of gold quartz. This specimen comes from one of the many vein systems sourcing the immense placer deposits of the Sierra Nevada Mtns, the famed Mother Lode.

15.43 GRAINS = 1 GRAM. 31.103 GRAMS = 1 TROY OUNCE. 24 GRAINS = 1 PENNYWEIGHT (DWT). 20 DWT = 1 TROY OUNCE.

480 GRAINS = 1 TROY OUNCE. We leave no stones unturned insuring our customers get what they bargained for.

If you're not satisfied with this item, contact me. SPECTRAL ROCK Observing the spectral color s locked up in this specimen, a guy wonders how such incredible gold ore was made. As with many mountain-building events in the geological history of mother earth, most of us can do little but marvel at those processes. It's this same human curiosity which makes the study of minerals, earth's building blocks, so fascinating. Even today, elemental forces continue to erupt, rupture, steam, tear, break apart, coalesce, and build new land-forms.

O ur planet's evolution and metamorphosis continues as these solid minerals we hold in our hands transition over and over again. A rock sitting on a bookcase may seem permanent because it possesses such antiquity, but the truth is, nothing that is physical lasts forever.

A geothermal hot springs site is a perfect place to study such phenomena. Here, we're able to observe, first-hand, gaseous states, incredibly-hot liquids , a myriad of chemical compounds, the dissolution of minerals and their reconstitution into lithified stone.

Volcanoes are an even more impressive example of dynamic rock-building. They generate so much heat, moving, explosive energy, and mineral mass that if we could somehow transport ourselves directly inside one , the scene would surely surpass anyone's phantasmagorical depiction of hades.

From a mineral collector's vantage point, I would. Venture to say the more interesting action happens on the outer. Fault-lines and contacts along preexisting geological formations transition as they come under assault by geothermal solutions full of dissolved metallic minerals. Thanks for checking out our digs.
