C heck out this large flake nugget from the Australian goldfields. M y source tells me it was found in the eastern part of Australia close by Ballarat, home to the earths largest recorded gold nugget, The Welcome Stranger.

Well, this nugget in no way rivals that monster, but as nuggets go, it's a unique character. The gold itself is a brilliant golden in color and seems almost sculpted; bound to liven up your nugget collection. I guarantee the gold is a natural occurrence. I poured through old mining dumps for years looking at orange-yellow-rusty rock through a loupe, but I never found a piece with visible gold. Hydrothermal solutions carrying gold and silica crystallized into veins of gold quartz. One day, while drywashing an untested gulch on the SOUTH 40, the name of our 600 acre claim group myself and two partners had staked out, I hit a nice pocket of placer in a stretch of unworked old channel. In these remote diggins, amongst a claim group encompassing roughly 6000 acres, my partner, his family, and newfound associate were having a field day extending my hole in different directions as they futilely searched for the paystreak.

There was one very large D8 Cat and two other vehicles parked nearby my hole. The road made it all very convenient for them to jump in my hole, you see.

It's always so nice to be consulted about these things, isn't it? My partner had somehow conveniently forgotten who made the discovery. It wasn't the first time he had pulled this stunt on me, so what, really, should I have expected? Ironically, they found about enough gold to fill a gnat's eye.
