A good friend of mine dug up t his plump chunk weighing 21.7 grains, that's on the Troy scale. According to my source, this n ugget was found on his claim in the southern Mother Lode country. These smoother, character pieces of natural gold tend to have a sculpted look and can resemble just about anything in nature you might imagine.

As you can see, both sides of this piece are quite shapely. Many years ago,'shooting nuggets' in northern California, I found several character slugs much like this one.
