Natural Montana Gold nuggets placer Sauerkraut Creek Gold. Flat, mixed size

We recently acquired a very small amount of new gold. This gold is part of that grouping. We were told that this gold originated in the Sauerkraut Placer area of Louis and Clark County, Montana.

There is no "proof" that is correct. The only verification was a hand written note from a prior owner, presumably the miner.

Where ever this gold came from, it is beautiful. It has a very intense color, is generally flat, no dirt, and a light polish to the surface. The gold is a mix of sizes, none of them small, see the photos. The gold is what is showing in the photos.

The millimeter gauge and the penny provide a size reference for the gold. This lot weighs 9.5 pennyweight, or 14.7 grams or. Since this is natural gold, the exact purity is not known. It is possible to have slight variations in weight on different scales.
